چکیده

Polyodon spathula is a valuable species of sturgeon native to North America that has acclimatized very well in Europe. Detailed knowledge the quantitative and qualitative productive performance paddlefish meat interest. Through this article, we aimed highlight chemical composition, cholesterol, collagen content fillets issued from aged two three summers highlight, as nutritional value, profile fatty acids amino acids, sanogenic indices biological value proteins for epaxial hypaxial muscle groups. The analysis by age indicated slightly higher values summer three, compared two: +5.32% dry matter, +0.89% protein, +41.21% fat, therefore +10.94% gross energy 2.94%; instead, water, minerals W/P ratio were lower 1.52%, 10.08%, 2.29%. assessment revealed with high PUFA (approx. 22% total acids) good (Polyunsaturation Index = 7.01–8.77; Atherogenic 0.57; Thrombogenic 0.38–0.39; Hypocholesterolemic Fatty Acids 33.01–41.34; Hypocholesteromic/Hypercolesteromic 1.9). Also, these fish are quality young adult consumers (EAA index 156.11; Biological Value 158.46; Nutritional (%) 28.30) enough children (Essential Amino 96.41; 93.39; 17.45).

Effects of body mass and water temperature on routine metabolism of American paddlefish Polyodon spathula.

This study quantified the effects of temperature and fish mass on routine metabolism of the American paddlefish Polyodon spathula. Thermal sensitivity, as measured by Q(10) value, was low in P. spathula. Mean Q(10) was 1·78 while poikilotherms are generally expected to have Q(10) values in the 2·00-2·50 range. Mass-specific metabolism did not decrease with increased fish size to the extent that...

Polychlorinated biphenyls and chlordane in the gonads of paddlefish, Polyodon spathula, from the Ohio River.

The paddlefish (Polyodon spathula) is a primitive fish that is found in several large rivers of the Mississippi River drainage. The status of paddlefish populations in these large rivers is debatable due to several factors including habitat loss, contaminants and commercial fishing (Sparrowe 1986; Gundersen and Pearson 1992). The roe of female paddlefish is used to make domestic caviar and comm...

The Status of Nebraska Fishes in the Missouri River. 1. Paddlefish (Polyodontidae: Polyodon spathula)

The mean larval paddlefish density was 60 times higher in the upper unchannelized section of the Missouri River in Nebraska compared to the lower unchannelized section, and was three times higher than the channelized section's density. Within the upper unchannelized section, 96.2% of the larvae were collected in the discharge of two tributaries, which lie in the lower one-third of the reach. Su...

Physical modeling of vortical cross-step flow in the American paddlefish, Polyodon spathula

Vortical cross-step filtration in suspension-feeding fish has been reported recently as a novel mechanism, distinct from other biological and industrial filtration processes. Although crossflow passing over backward-facing steps generates vortices that can suspend, concentrate, and transport particles, the morphological factors affecting this vortical flow have not been identified previously. I...

Response properties of electrosensory units in the midbrain tectum of the paddlefish (Polyodon spathula Walbaum).

Paddlefish use their peculiar rostrum to detect minute electric fields from their main prey, small water fleas. Electroreceptors over the rostrum and head sense these fields and send the information into a single hindbrain area, the dorsal octavolateral nucleus (DON). From there, information is sent to various midbrain structures, including the tectum. The response properties of primary afferen...
